A few weeks ago my MGF started losing a fair bit of coolant so upon reviews and testimonials I contacted some mobile mechanics in Derby. They came to see my car in Redditch, told me head gasket was shot and didnt want to fix where it was but would rather transport it to their premises, where they could tinker with it, their reasoning for this was there could be damage to the block. Worst case would be an engine swap, £800. Best case 300-400 head gasket. That diagnosis, done by eye, cost £80. So long story short, found Russell on the forums, he arrived this morning, Sunday, and within 2 hrs had my F running better than it has in my posession. Head gasket was fine, he pressure tested it, few split hoses and a manifold gasket needed replacing, alse a few missing bolts here and there too. Cost less than a quarter of the other crews worst case !!
Russell is a true gent, put me at ease straight away, gave the car a good looking over, replaced nothing that did not need doing.
If your MG needs looking at please make Russell your first call, you will have to wait, although he went out of his way to fit me in, the man is always busy, that should be testimonial enough. Like everything Russell needs fuel, the bacon sarnie is no myth and a few coffees seems to do the trick 😉

Russell arrived on time and changed my clutch and cam belt. He also discovered the alternator belt needed replacing. All Done in about 5 hours. Was very impressed at the speed and cost of the work carried out. Think all the other reviews sum up his professionalism. I wont hesitate to call him again should the car need any more work. Hope you weren't in too much pain that night Russell! And Thank you.

Full service and Waterpump / Cambelt change completed in true Jubilee weather (ie wet ) . Saved from a catastrophe by noticing a shredded alternator belt !! Many thanks Russell … see you next year 🙂

Russell arrived as promised at 08.00 this morning and got straight on with the job in hand - a head gasket change following my discovery of some rather murky looking oil/water and loads of mayo in the cam shaft cover. After a bit of banter, and a great sense of humour, decided the cam belts should also be changed.
Russell worked him magic and was done in 4 hours. His attention to detail and professionalism were immediately apparent. No fuss, no mess and great value for money. I would strongly recommend him to anyone who needs K series engine surgery. Thanks Russell great job done.

I booked Russell for a service, cambelt, tensioner and water pump change. I have only owned the 2004 car since November last year and the previous owner, of six years, didn't have any servicing done at all. It has never had a cambelt change either! As he'd only done 18,000 miles in the six years he said,`` It didn't need a service as it hadn't done the miles``!
So you can see it was ready. Russell arrived a little early on the promised day and got stuck in straight away. The service it seems was just in time as Russell discovered a perished (after 10 years what would you expect?) alternator belt which was changed before it had chance to do any further damage.
I found the work that was carried out to be professional, first class and good value.
